Compound Delegate Race Cycle 2 Application

Compound Delegate Race Cycle 2 Application

Co-Authors: @AranaDigital, @PGov, @Doo_StableLab

There’s a week-long period for delegate candidates to submit their applications for the Compound Delegate Race. The hard deadline will be 9PM EST on November 3rd. Please note that the applicant needs to fulfill the following criteria to be considered:

  1. The applicant needs to submit application by the deadline

  2. Only entities / individuals that have maintained at least a 20 percent participation rate since the previous delegate race will be eligible to apply for treasury delegation, given that their last vote occurred within the 2025 calendar year. The eligible pool includes all participants from the Cycle 1 dataset who meet these thresholds. Below is a list of wallets that are eligible for submitting an application (the gray rows are delegates from Cycle 1).

  1. The applicant currently does not have 65k or more COMP of voting power. The applicant is not eligible for this delegate race if the applicant has 65k or more COMP of voting power to prevent the overconcentration of voting power.

Please also note that:

  1. You must specify in your application if you are applying as an individual or an entity. A maximum of one person can apply from each entity.

  2. All delegates from Cycle 1 who continue in Cycle 2, as well as the new delegates onboarded, will be subject to the same participation requirement (80% biannually) and accountability mechanisms. If any current treasury-delegated delegates cannot meet the new standard, their prior delegation will be revoked and that COMP will return to the allocation pool for redistribution under this proposal’s framework.

  3. Regarding accountability and good-faith participation, the CGWG will hear all complaints regarding any conflicts of interest or malicious actions taken by delegated parties.

Applicant summary–briefly explain why you’re interested in applying for this delegate race:

Wintermute has been an active Compound DAO participant since early 2023, maintaining a high participation rate since the inception of our engagement, despite having little voting power in recent months.
When critical proposals arose such as ‘Recall of COMP Delegated via the Delegate Race’ or ‘Renew Proposal Guardian Role for the Community Multisig’, we mobilized our resources to help to maintain protocol integrity. We also posted a case study about these events, in which we described the above events in detail, bringing awareness to the topic as well as covering our governance process.

At Wintermute we treat our delegate activity responsibly with our core values being:

  • long term value creation over short term opportunism
  • objective data-driven decision making
  • transparency, alignment and proactivity

Outside of Compound, we are also active contributors to Arbitrum, Uniswap, Lido, Optimism and Aave DAOs. Our participations statistics across all DAOs can be found here:
https://dune.com/wintermute_research/wintergov.

We believe that by applying to the delegate race, we will be able to provide additional value to Compound DAO by proactively engaging in the voting process of the proposals, and with increased voting power we will be able to help the DAO more effectively.

Beyond Compound, we boast a consistent history of performance across protocols including Uniswap, Arbitrum, and Celo.

We recognize the importance of maintaining a reliable voter base as the governance threats that motivated Cycle 1 still persist. In order to take a step toward the elimination of governance threats, FranklinDAO will enthusiastically accept the responsibility of actively evaluating proposals for governance and security risks. In Cycle 2, we are committed to maintaining our participation rate significantly above the 80% threshold. Applicant summary–briefly explain why you’re interested in applying for this delegate race:

Serving in the first round of the Delegate Race allowed me to contribute constructively to the Governance Working Group’s DAO-approved goal of boosting the number of delegated COMP used for active voting on proposals. I achieved one of the highest delegate participation rates and ensured timely execution of several important risk-management and market update proposals that would not have met quorum without my participation. If I drop out of the cycle 2 race, I will still have a couple of large delegations allowing me to continue participating in governance meaningfully; however, I hope to retain the higher delegation level through the Delegate Race to help ensure COMP delegated through this process is put to maximally productive use.

I continue to believe in the good of this community stewarding the protocol and hope to continue contributing constructively to governance proposal outcomes that reflect the interests of lenders, borrowers, and the ecosystem of builders in, on, and around Compound. My track record in the first round of the Delegate Race shows that the delegated tokens were put to constructive use, and I commit to extending this track record alongside increased reporting of reasoning for my votes through the new delegate thread. For critical or sensitive votes, I have a track record of using the CastVoteWithReason() function call in the Governor contract to post my reasoning directly onchain; I will probably stick to the delegate thread for reporting on most decisions going forward.
